Petit Verdot - Ruby Cabernet

Made in 8 Weeks (18 L grape juice)
Origin: Australia

Price: $189.99 made by us, $139.99 made at home

January's red was a gem (sorry). PETIT RUBY takes its name from Petit Verdot and Ruby Cabernet, but don't let the name fool you. This is an elegant blend of Petit Verdot and Ruby Cabernet, itself a blend of Carignan and Cabernet Sauvignon. This robust red is bursting with flavors of dark berries, juicy plums and currant perfectly balanced by subtle hints of vanilla, herb, and spicy ground black pepper. Dry with medium oak and a full body the bold flavors of this luscious wine pair perfectly with grilled meats.

The wine comes from Southern Australia, in the fabled Riverland of the Lower Murray oasis. This vast region spans across Victoria and New South Wales, the continental climates providing the the bountiful vineyards with ample nutrients, sunshine and water in this unofficial "super zone."

Milagro Blanco

Made in 8 Weeks (18 L grape juice)
Origin: Spain

Price: $189.99 with our love, $139.99 with yours

March produced this wonderful blend of Muscat, Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc. Wonderful on their own but they sing when blended together. Muscat is fruity and crisp, Verdejo has mineral and citrus notes, and Sauvignon Blanc is herbaceous with pleasing acidity. When married, their unique elements create an off-dry, soft, refreshing, fruit-forward wine with a bright bouquet and a complex finish. MILAGRO BLANCO carries notes of passion fruit and white flower on the nose, and is supported by juicy melon, peach, fresh lime and grass with a hint of honey on the palate

La Mancha is steeped in history and is believed to have been producing wine since the Roman empire. A challenging place to grow grapes, the region is found in hot and dry central Spain, south east of Madrid where the rivers provide much needed water. Hard working vines planted in water-absorbing limestone and chalk sub-soil produce grapes that boast concentrated flavours that burst on the palate.

Negroamaro with grape skins

Made in 8 Weeks (18 L grape juice)
Origin: Italy

Price: $199.99 in store, $149.99 at home

NEGROAMARO is a classic. Loved and lovely. Its grapes have deep, dark, silky tannins with rich flavours of blackberries, blackcurrants, pepper and overtones of the Spice Islands (allspice, cloves and nutmeg), Mild hints of wood and spice on the nose play with fruity notes for a complex aroma. NEGROAMARO is richly jewel-hued, full bodied and a classic varietal in Apulia. Truly, not to be missed.
